Monument to the 2nd Maine Volunteer Infantry regiment, which was the first Maine regiment to fight in the war. It was decimated in a total of 10 battles. TThe monument was dedicated in 1962. Two of the 2nd Maine's commanders, Colonel Charles W. Roberts and Colonel George Varney, are interred in Mount Hope.
