Jeannette Ellis DeCourcy Christensen, 88, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 1990 at Wood Dale Nursing Home where she was a resident three years and three months.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Duehn officiating. The service will be followed by cremation, with interment in Redwood Falls Cemetery.
Jeannette Ellis DeCourcy was born Sept. 20, 1901 in Ford County, Ill., a daughter of Oliver and Katherine Ellis DeCourcy. She attended Robert, Ill., elementary school and after moving to Lamberton with her parents in 1914, she attended Lamberton School, graduating from high school in 1919. She also attended Lamberton Normal Teachers' Training. She taught in rural Lamberton schools two years.
Her marriage to Arthur Christensen took place in Lamberton Oct. 19, 1921. They lived in Lamberton until moving to Redwood Falls in 1936. He died in 1952. She was a dental assistant in Redwood Falls, retiring in 1960.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women's group, Charity Chapter 35, Order of Eastern Star, Sorosis Study Club, and REM-Redwood Falls Aiuxiliary.
Survivors include a son, Dwayne of Redwood Falls; daughters, Mrs. Harold (Marian) Cuff of Austin and Mrs. Eugene (Sylvia) Dressen of Redwood Falls; eight grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mildred Clark of Redwood Falls. She was preceded in death by brothers, Claude and Rev. Frank DeCourcy.
