Lee Roy Lawson, 72, known to all as Roy, was born February 6, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, and passed away Friday, July 13, 2018, at home surrounded by his family. Roy attended Journey Church International in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. He was a long-standing member of the Elks Lodge and also a member of the Eagles and Shriners. Roy was a master plumber by trade, an avid golfer and was even featured in the Kansas City Star for making a hole in one at one of his favorite golf courses. Roy also loved working with his hands. He could build anything he put his mind to, including a massive three tier deck in his backyard, which he completed almost entirely by himself from drawing up the blueprints, to cutting, sanding and nailing it all together. He was always fixing one of his grandkid’s cars and loved to plant vegetables in his garden come springtime. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Edna Lawson, sister Geraldine Daily, and daughter Kari Tabor. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nona Lawson, brother Ray (Judy) Lawson, daughters Kim (Brent) Madewell, Lori (Gary) Cox, Kelly (Marc) McCabe and Stephanie (Mike) Lucas, granddaughter Amber (Brad) Blackburn, 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Floral Hills, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Missouri. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 22, 2018, from 4PM to 6PM, funeral services will be on Monday, July 23, 2018, at 2PM. Interment will follow at Belton Cemetery, 17 S.
