Christoph Gottlieb Traub, otherwise known as George C. Traub. George Traub came to Alaska in 1896. By 1900 he was working in Chicken Creek Mining District, Territory of Alaska, as a blacksmith. By 1910 he was working Fortymile District, Division 2, Territory of Alaska as a goldminer. By 1915 his claim on number 11 at Fortymile was mentioned in the Fairbanks Newspaper. By 1920, George Traub, while living in Fortymile District, was the US Postmaster in Chicken, Alaska. By 1930 he was a widower with his own gold mine in Chicken, Alaska.
