Audrey Kathleen Bohnert was born June 4, 1939 to Leona Beatrice (Jones) Bohnert and Oran George Roy Bohnert at the Galloway Hospital in Anthony, Kansas. She was welcomed home by her brother, Donald LeRoy Bohnert. Later another brother joined the family, Vernon Leon Bohnert. They made their home on their farm 11 miles east of Anthony until February 1945 [1946 per his tombstone] when her father, Oran, was killed in an accident. They then moved into Anthony where Audrey started school and continued all 12 years in the Anthony schools. In February 1946, her mother married Oran’s brother Warner. A younger brother, Kenneth LaVern Bohnert was born in October 1947.

Audrey and Charles D. Elliott were married August 5, 1956, so she could finish her senior year in Anthony, as her parents moved to Wichita prior to graduation. Upon graduation, Charles and Audrey moved to Wichita where Charles worked for Boeing. Audrey went to work in the accounting department of Southwestern Bell Telephone.

Charles' job with Boeing moved them around. Seattle, Washington - 6 months; Fort Worth, Texas - 5 months; Bossier City, Louisiana - 5 years; Huntsville, Alabama - 6 months; back to Louisiana - 4 years. Upon his lay off their family of 4 children; Dennis Ray, Michael Alan, Susan Annette, and Patricia Joan; moved back to Anthony. While living in Anthony, Audrey loved bowling and was secretary/treasurer of every league she bowled on. For 8 years she was secretary/treasurer for Harper County Women’s Bowling Association. She played piano at church wherever they lived, crocheted many items and sewed all her children’s clothes.

In 1984 after her divorce, Audrey went to work at Anthony Rest Home as nurse aid, took her schooling and became a medication aide. After Susan and Patti graduated High School, the three moved to Wichita where Susan went to Business school, then Patti went to Dodge City to college.

Audrey’s son, Dennis, served in the Navy in Norfolk, Virginia from 1979 to 1983. In 1988, Audrey’s son Michael was killed in a car accident in Memphis, Tennessee where he was stationed in the Navy.

In 2016, Audrey moved to Topeka, Kansas to be closer to her daughters where they checked on her daily. In Topeka Audrey kept busy with her card group, bunko, visiting with her neighbors, bible study, crocheting, bookfolding, church activities, canning anything and everything, and time with family.

On July 14, 2018, Audrey passed away at her home in Topeka, Kansas at the age of 79. She was preceded in death by her father, Oran; mother, Leona; stepfather, Warner; brother, Vernon, and son, Michael.

Audrey will be deeply missed by her son Dennis; her daughters Susan and Patricia; and her brothers, Donald and Kenneth.

Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2018 at Faith Baptist Church in Attica, Kansas. Inurnment will follow at the Forest Park Cemetery in Anthony, Kansas.
