Edward E Bortner, 80, of Camden, Ohio, formerly of Ligonier, passed away on Tuesday July 17, 2018. He was born on July 11, 1938 in Kendallville, Indiana to the late Maynard and Emma Jane Becker Bortner. He was employed with Holland as a truck driver until retiring in 2001. Prior to that he owned Ligonier Cartage. Edward loved being outdoors, shooting guns for sport, classic cars, and Nascar. He especially enjoyed driving his classic Mercury around town, and going to classic car shows.

Survivors include sons, Kevin (Kelly) Bortner, Ron (Sandra) Bortner, and Terry (Elizabeth) Bortner; daughters, Dawna (Michael) Simpson, and Jennifer (Michael) Fahlsing; grandchildren, Mckenna Simpson, Joshua Bortner, Chad (Erica) Bortner, Jamie (Andrew) Dean, Jerimee (Kris) Bortner, Melissa (Charles) Northrup, Brandy Jane (Doug) Carroll, Kristen Bortner, Ethan Bortner, Justin (Holly) Bortner, Amanda (Jared) Knipper, and 28 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a special friend, Carla Adams.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years, Carolyn Bortner in 2010, a brother, Ronnie Bortner, a daughter, Vickie, and his parents.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at Harper Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road, Albion, with visitation from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Burial will take place at Sweet Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be directed to State of the Heart Hospice Center, 1350 N Broadway St, Greenville, OH 45331
