Lonnie Bruce Allen, Jr., age 86, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family, on Wednesday, July 18, 2018.

Lonnie Bruce was born on August 26, 1931 in Beeville, Texas to Lonnie Bruce Allen, Sr. and Violet Margaret Cook Allen.

He was a proud United States veteran, having served during the Korean War in the U S Army Airborne Division. He retired from Valero Energy Corporation after 27 years of service. He accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of First Baptist Church in Mineral, Texas.

Lonnie enjoyed hunting and fishing, collecting arrowheads, and floating down the Frio River. He was a good cook and he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie Bruce Allen, Sr. and Violet Margaret Cook Rizzo; his stepmother, Ida Louise Finney Allen; and a brother, Curtis Leroy Allen.

Left to cherish memories of him are his loving wife, Betty Lou Morgan Allen of Freer; four daughters, Glenda (Charles) Sanders of Corpus Christi, Texas, Donna (Gary) Igo of Douglas, Wyoming, Carolyn (Gordon) Ricossa of Sour Lake, Texas, and Judy (Roy) Laughlin of San Antonio, Texas; one son, Lonnie Bruce Allen, III of Austin, Texas; one sister, Jinee Rizzo of Austin, Texas; thirteen grandchildren, Jason Sanders, Aaron Sanders, Nathan Ricossa, Jacob Ricossa, Philip Ricossa, Kimberly Estes, Shauna Cannon, Trey Cannon, Aundrea Keim, Randy Laughlin, Lauren Laughlin, Brady Allen, and Amanda Allen; twelve great-grandchildren, Taylor Sanders, Brendyn Sanders, Bishop Estes, Deacon Estes, Blake Ricossa, Copper Ricossa, Rory Badeaux, James Laughlin, Henry Janson, Hannah Janson, Sebastian Allen, and Matthew Keim.

Visitation with family receiving friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 20, 2018 at First Baptist Church located at 515 E. Laredo St. in Freer, Texas.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Freer with Brother Tim Walshe officiating.

Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Park in Alice, Texas.
