Irene Phipps Haynes, 89, of Fulks Run, died July 18, 2018, at Timberview Crossings in Timberville.

She was born June 21, 1929. in Clintwood to the late Lloyd and Stella Mullins Phipps.

Irene worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Oakley in Manassas. She was a member of the former Manassas Free Will Baptist Church, where she was very active in singing and playing her auto harp.

On May 31, 1946, she married Landon Haynes, who preceded her in death Feb. 4, 2000.

Surviving are two daughters, Peggy Sue Carter and husband, Ed, of Fulks Run, Greta Gale Daniel and husband, Joe, of Bristol, Tenn.; two grandsons, Keith Carter and wife, Michele, of Timberville, Kenny Daniel and wife, Samantha, of Gainesville; great- granddaughters, Anna and Marina Carter; brothers, Kyle, Lester, Ronald, Paul and Avery Phipps, all of Clintwood, Chester Phipps of Georgia and James Phipps of Goshen; sisters, Lorena Crawford of Kentucky, Helen Music of Richfield and Mary Deel of Georgia.

Three brothers, Sylvester, Clifford and Vernon Lee Phipps, and two sisters, Bertha Mullins and Elmira Smith, preceded her in death.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p. m. Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Grandle Funeral Home chapel in Broadway. Burial at Quantico National Cemetery will be private.

The family receives friends from 6 to 7 p. m. Saturday.
