Obituary
Leila Blanche Ahlvers, daughter of Frederick and Clara Peterson DeLand, was born in Maysville, Missouri, August 17, 1896. She died November 18, 1982, at the Mid-America Nursing Center in Lincoln, Kansas.
She was married to Adolph Ahlvers on December 18, 1918, at Lincoln, Kansas; and to this union four children were born.
Having come to Mitchell county in 1910, she lived for many years in the Glen elder neighborhood and moved to Frankfort in 1956. This was her home until she entered the Mid-American Nursing Center in october 1981. Her husband, Adolph, died in December, 1953.
Always one to be there when needed, she served as a midwife for many and cared often for those who were ill. Her family and her life on the farm brought her much joy.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Tipton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Jackie and a great-granddaughter, Stacey Ahlvers.
She is survived by her four children, A. Harold and wife, Bonnie of Wichita, Kansas; Melvin and wife, Dorothy of Frankfort, Kansas; Bonnie and husband, Verdon Peckham of Hunter, kansas; and Raymond and wife, Diane of Frankfort, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren, David and DiAnna Coutler, Dennis and Frances Ahlvers, Lendon and Melanie Ahlvers, Karen and Darrell Claycamp, Ellen and Ronnie Koch, Bernita and Jerry Moss, Lila and Garry Wichman, Carol Randles, John and Terri Peckham, Sandra and Joe Burton, Lynn And Dave Smith, Keith and Patty Ahlvers and Lori Ahlvers; seventeen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Wilma Wiltfong and Madelene Franz, Council Bluffs, Iowa; and on Brother, Fred DeLand, Sioux City, Iowa; and many special nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 22, 1982, at 1:00 p.m. in Beloit, Kansas with Reverend Alden Longwell officiating.
Music was provided by Michael Heller accompanied by Mrs. maurice McDonald at the organ.
Casketbearers were Harold Armstrong, Leo Brown, Joe Gaston, Ralph Kresin, Jr., Rex Morton and Norris Shubert.
Internmentt was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Glen Elder,Kansas.
