Betty Fountain Escoe, of Pickens, widow of Gerald C. (Buddy) Escoe, died July 17, 2018.

Mrs. Escoe was born in Pelzer to the late Howard T, and Christine Turner Fountain. She graduated from Pelzer High School, after which she trained as a hairdresser. Upon the family’s move to Pickens, she found her career as a bank teller at the local Pickens Bank, where she became well-known and well-loved by many patrons. She eventually retired as head teller from Bank of America after twenty-five years of service. She was a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church and served for many years as a volunteer at Cannon Hospital in Pickens.

Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis Morgan (Steve) of Powdersville and Jan Childs (Greg) of Pickens; one son, G. Michael Escoe (Sherrie) of Atlanta; and a brother, Jack Fountain of Pelzer; along with eight grandchildren and ten greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of fifty-three years, her parents, a brother, Gerald Fountain, a sister, Shirley Patterson, and a beloved grandmother, Zonie Russell.
