David E. Lutz, age 59, of Columbia, died peacefully, Sunday, July 15, 2018 at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center, after a long and courageous battle with liver disease. Born in Columbia, he was the son of Cora Ethel (Devine) Lutz, with whom he resided, and the late Leo E. Lutz.

Dave was a 1977 graduate of Columbia High School, and was a member of the Crimson Tide football and wrestling teams, and also the 1975 State Champion track team. He went onto a career in printing and binding, working until his illness for The Standard Group in Lititz. Dave was talented in many skills from plumbing and roofing to auto repair. He loved to work on the many trucks he owned over the years. In his earlier years he loved to go three-wheeling.

Dave was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He was an active member of the Wrightsville Social Club, the Columbia Fraternal and Friendship Association, and the Foresters of America. He was known for cooking pizzas at many of the clubs. He was also a member of the Susquehanna Fish and Game, the Sinnemahoning Sportsman's Club and a former member of the Bear Paw Rod and Gun Club.

Dave loved to go hunting. Whether with his bow or rifle, he loved to spend time in the mountains of Cameron County. He enjoyed his Rottweilers, watching Redskins football, and spending time with family and friends. Dave could often be seen cruising around Columbia or down a dirt road in the mountains, in a lifted truck with big tires, his Rottweiler in the back, and his best friend and brother, the late Brian S. "Diddy Bop" Lutz in the passenger seat. He will be missed.

In addition to his mother, Dave is survived by his brother Leo S. Lutz, and his wife Kathleen of Columbia, his sisters Donna M. Haug, wife of the late Ray Haug of Galeton; Thomasine E. Lutz, and her companion James "Bo" Ortman of Washington Boro; Susan L. Mattern of Columbia; Carol A. Ortman, and her husband Ken P. Ortman, Jr. of Washington Boro; and Karen M. Lutz of Wrightsville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 11:00am from Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4th and Cherry Streets, Columbia, with Reverend Stephen P. Kelley as Celebrant. Final Commendation and Farewell will follow in Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. There will be a viewing on Monday, July 23, 2018 from the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., 519 Walnut Street, Columbia from 6:00 to 8:00pm (there will be no viewing on Tuesday at the church).

Dave's family would like to thank the staff of Penn State Hershey for the excellent care and the family of the organ donor who gave Dave a chance to live, and they encourage everyone to consider organ donation.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dave's memory may be made to Our Lady of the Angels School, 404 Cherry Street, Columbia, PA 17512 or Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 409 Cherry Street, Columbia, PA 17512.

Arrangements by the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., Columbia/Landisville.
