OBITUARY: Zachary and Taylor Johnson - reprinted from the Mahn Family Funeral Home website

Zachary Robert Johnson, 8, and his brother, Taylor Steven Johnson, 5, died, along with their grandmother as the result of a car accident on July 14, 2018.

Zac was born February 10, 2010 and Taylor was born September 16, 2012, both in River Falls, Wis. to Christopher Johnson and Marya Christiansen. They both grew up in Ellsworth and attended Ellsworth Elementary where Zac was going into the 3rd grade and Taylor was about to start Kindergarten. Zac was good at math and enjoyed reading. He had just started the Harry Potter series. Taylor was goofy and loved Play-Doh. Zac and Taylor were best friends and were each other’s favorite playmate. Zac was the brains and Taylor was the muscle. Together they dominated the video game scene at their house, although who was better at each game depended on the day. They loved jumping on the trampoline, riding dirt bikes, and getting into epic Nerf battles with their brothers.

Zac and Taylor are survived by their father, Christopher (Melanie Bahl) Johnson of Red Wing; brothers, Ryder, Preston and Adrian; grandfather; Robert (Staci) Johnson of Red Wing; grandfather, Steven Christiansen of Ellsworth; grandfather; Guy Relander of River Falls; grandmother, Shannon VanHove or River Falls; step-grandfather, Robert Welch of Hager City; great grandparents, Brad and Sylvia VanHove of Georgia, Peggy “Lil’ Grandma” McDeid of Winona, Kenneth Christiansen of Prescott, Dennis Johnson of Wabasha, Carol (Dan) Grant of Winona and Fred and Marge Kohn of Red Wing and great-great grandfather, Gordon Johnson of River Falls; as well as many aunts and uncles, numerous cousins, other family and many friends.

Zach and Taylor were preceded in death by their mother, Marya Christiansen; grandmother, Stacy Lande; great-grandmothers, Carol Christiansen and Helen Johnson; and cousin, Kelly Johnson.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m., Saturday July 21, 2018 at the Church of St. Joseph with Deacon Pat Evans officiating. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel, Red Wing. Burial will be at Trenton Cemetery.
