HENRY LEROY BARNES, of Oak Grove, Arkansas was born on February 10, 1936, to Roy Isaac and Vera Elmina (Van Winkle) Barnes in their home in Oak Grove. Spending all, of his 81 years in either Carroll county or Coos Bay, Oregon, Leroy, as he was commonly known, worked as a skilled machinist, mechanic, blacksmith, and welder since his teenage years continuing his trade until last week when he was hospitalized for a sudden illness. Dependability, ingenuity, and a keen knack for fixing anything that was broken describe his work ethic. His character was demonstrated by putting the needs of others before himself. He departed this life, Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in Bentonville, Arkansas surrounded by his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Vera Barnes, first wife, Juanita Maurie (Bunch) Barnes and one infant sister.

Leroy was blessed with an extensive family spanning many blended generations. He was survived by wife Sue (Mills) Barnes, brother, Irvin Barnes and wife, Barbara of Springfield, Missouri; brother, Ira Barnes and wife, Gayle of Springfield, Missouri; and sister, Marie Loftis of Oak Grove, Arkansas.

Immediate family members include son, Bradley Barnes and wife, Kim of Bella Vista, Arkansas; son, Brian Barnes and wife, Sheila of Berryville, Arkansas; son, Roger Morris and wife, Carlene of Olvey, Arkansas; daughter, Diana Lesh and husband, Steven of Bolivar, Missouri; son, Rob Root and wife, Wilma of Kingston, Arkansas; son, Stacy Root and wife, April of Kingston, Arkansas; daughter, Shairlyn Flippo and husband, Eugene of Oak Grove, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones and a host of friends.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel, Berryville, Arkansas. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel with Brother Les Robinson officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Liberty Cemetery, Berryville under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service. Memorial donations may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, Arkansas 72762.
