Clinton Dick Cooper, 95, of Rexburg, died peacefully at home on July 16, 2018.

He was born December 3, 1922, in Rexburg, Idaho, to Charles Drue and Calanthe Smith Cooper.

Dick lived in Rexburg during his early years, then moved to Teton Valley where he graduated from Teton High School in 1941. He married Carma Weatherston, October 22, 1944, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple March 28, 1945.

Dick served in the Marine Corps during World War II and spent time on the island of Okinawa, Japan, and in Guam. When the war ended he was sent to China for one year. He graduated from Ricks College, while it was a four-year college, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1956. He taught school for Madison School District for 34 years, in subjects ranging from English to science. Dick was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in many capacities, as well as a temple worker for six years. In his later years, he spent many hours indexing a total of 31,643 names for Family Search.

Dick enjoyed the beautiful outdoors in Idaho and Montana, including golfing, camping and year-round fishing. He and his wife, Carma, spent many winters in St. George exploring every dirt road and canyon collecting beautiful rocks and decorative pieces of wood, which they brought home to beautify their yard in Rexburg. He loved spending time with his family, making sure every child and grandchild knew how to play all kinds of fun card games. Dick loved singing and was always humming a tune wherever he went. He performed with various groups and quartets at church and other activities. At 95, his voice was a pleasure to hear while singing church hymns.

He is survived by his wife, Carma, and children Jackilyn (Allen) Carver of Ogden, Utah; C. Dana (Karen, deceased) Cooper of Idaho Falls Idaho; Troy Dick (Deon) Cooper of Roosevelt, Utah; 11 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Cooper; sisters, Jean Kunz and Betty Kunz; a daughter, Sandra Cooper; daughter in-law, Karen Cooper; grandson, Travis Wielang; and a great-granddaughter, Odette Cooper.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am, Saturday, July 21 at the Rexburg LDS 13th Ward building, 210 South 12th West. Family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 20 at Flamm Funeral Home in Rexburg and from 10 to 11:00 a.m. preceding the funeral at the Rexburg 13th Ward.
