David J. Dempsey, 75, Kokomo, passed away at 4:01 pm Monday, July 16, 2018, at Community Howard Regional Health in Kokomo. He was born April 17, 1943, in Kokomo, the son of the late Edward James & Hilda Winifred (Pigott) Dempsey. On May 3, 1965, he married Deborah Ann Brothers and she survives.
David graduated from Kokomo High School in 1961. He retired from Chrysler Corp after 30 years of service. He was a long time member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and in recent years was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where he spent countless hours in prayer at the Adoration Chapel. David also served as a bus driver for St. Joan of Arc School for many years. He enjoyed shooting, hunting, fishing, and was a collector of many things.
Along with his wife, Deborah, David is survived by his children, Jo Anne (Darrin) Bagley, Christine (James) Haas, Catherine Beard (Tony Sears), Rebecca (Jeff) Barrett, Patricia (Zack) Cummings, Bridget (Eric) McCoy, Monica (Brad) Hester, and Simon Dempsey; grandchildren, Aubrey Reed, Emily Bagley, Lisa Haas (J.T. Steve), Sara (Geoff) Saulmon, Dennis (Mallory) Beard, Dustin (Alexis) Beard, Kelsey Sears, T.J. Sears, Ariel Barrett, Lucas Cummings, Angela, and Olivia Dempsey, Eli McCoy, Drake, Drew, and Bailey Hester, Kadin, David, Grace, Gabriella, and Michael Dempsey; great-grandchildren, Christian Reed, Jayden Jewell, Elaine Haas, Kaylee Saulmon, Rozalyn, and Camden Beard, Jase, Owen, and Arlo Beard.
David was preceded in death by his parents; son, John Paul Dempsey; brothers, John Anthony Dempsey, and Michael Dempsey; and grandchildren, Andrew David Dempsey, and Dena Renee Beard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Saturday, July 21, 2018, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1229 N. Washington Street, Kokomo. Burial will follow in Kokomo Memorial Park Cemetery.
