DOUGLAS WAYNE OLSON (USMC) - 65, passed away in the early morning Sunday, June 10th, at home in Scottsdale, Arizona following an extended illness.

Born November 3rd, 1952 in Carroll, Iowa to a patriotic family that served in all branches of the U.S. Military, Doug proudly joined the United States Marine Corps after his senior year at Bountiful High School in Bountiful, Utah.

Doug volunteered for two tours during the Vietnam conflict with boots first on the ground in Da Nang and Marble Mountain in Vietnam, then served a 2nd tour in Nam Phong, Thailand through 1975. Doug’s MOS lead him to a 40-year career in construction which included the MGM hotel in Reno, Nevada; many large residential developments in the Phoenix, Arizona area; and Salt River Fields at Talking Stick which is the first Major League Baseball spring training facility to be built on Indian land in the United States.

He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Veronica Ergazos Olson formerly of Canton, Ohio; his mother, Bonnie (Fisher) Lee of Peoria, Arizona; two daughters, Deborah Morse and Bonnye Corbin of Reno, Nevada; five grandchildren; two sisters, Pamela (Garland) Cole and Roxanne Holcomb of Phoenix, Arizona; brother Matthew (Kara) Lee of Flagstaff, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.

Doug was preceded in death by his father Willard Olson; step-father, Gordon Gunderson Lee; and brothers Lcdr Michael Dale Olson and Steven Leroy Olson.

"If the Army and the Navy ever look on Heaven's scenes; They will find the streets are guarded By United States Marines." Sempre Fi. You will always be remembered.
