Mass of Christian Burial for Francis Klein, 95, will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 18th at
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Father Mike Kelly will officiate. Inurnment
will follow in All Saints Catholic Cemetery, Andover under the direction of Paetznick-Garness Funeral Chapel, Groton.


Visitation will be Tuesday at the chapel 6-7 p.m. with a wake service at 7:00 p.m.


Fritz passed away July 15, 2018 at Avera St. Lukes Hospital, Aberdeen.


Francis Joseph Klein was born on September 9, 1922 in Webster to Anton and Theresa
(Marko) Klein. He attended school in Webster, and was part of the first FFA
Organization. Fritz graduated from Webster High School in 1940. He was united in
marriage with Marge Jensen on August 4, 1948 and together they were blessed with four
children. Fritz enlisted with the US Army and served in Alaska during the Korean
Conflict from 1950-1952. After returning to South Dakota, he worked as the Bagley
Elevator Manager in Andover. He then started his 40 year career with the Post Office,
carrying rural mail from 1961-2001.


Fritz was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Andover for many years before its
closing. He was well-known around town as the community handyman. He enjoyed
carpentry work (making many wooden stools), fishing, and spending time with Marge
and family. For several years, he also helped Martin Huber on the farm.

Celebrating his life are his children: David (Mary) Klein of Sioux Falls, Jane (William)
Kroll of Andover, Ann (Steve) Hein of Huron, Susan (Merle) Clark of Hulett, Wyoming,
13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and his brother, Leo (Leona) Klein of Webster,
brother-in-law, Bill Shannon, sister-in-laws, Jaqueline Klein, Harriet Stave and Bonnie
(Dean) Hodson.


Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife in 1994 and siblings, Marie, John,
Margaret, Catherine and Joseph.


Honorary Urn Bearers will be all of Fritz’s Grandchildren.
