Herlinda Potter Alvarez went to be with her Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ, on Friday, March 20, 2015. She was 63 years in age.
Herlinda, also known as “Linda” or “Nan”, was born to Ramon Sr. and Clara P. Alvarez on August 1, 1951 in Lordsburg, NM. She was one of fourteen siblings. Herlinda graduated from Lordsburg High in 1971. She was also a member of St. Joseph’s Altar Society, Prayer Rosary Group, and a strong contributor of St. Jude’s Children Cancer Foundation.
Herlinda was very fond of her family and friends. She thrived with humbleness to help others in various ways and lift their spirits high. Always with a smile and big heart, she reminded others of: “Life is what you make of it and no matter what others may be, just be yourself!”
Herlinda is preceded in death by her parents, Ramon Sr. and Clara, brothers, Felipe, Amado, Ramon Jr., and Jose, a sister, Evelyn. She is survived by two brothers, Salvador (Sylvia), and Gilbert (Ana). She is also survived by sisters, Josephine, Frances (Salvador), Veronica (the late George Garduno), Jean (Don), Rachel (Magdaleno), and Laura (Angel).
A celebration of Herlinda’s life will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lordsburg, NM on Saturday, March 28, 2015. Viewing will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by a rosary at 10:00 a.m.to be led by Alice Ramirez. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a. m. with Fr. John Weber, Pastor officiating. Interment will take place at Shakespeare Cemetery, thereafter.
Pallbearers will be: Daniel “Booga” Lazos, Angel Lopez Jr., Gilbert Alvarez Jr. Ramon Michael Alvarez, Anthony Guzman, and Felipe Jose Alvarez. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Don Yandell, Magdaleno Guzman, Angel Lopez Sr., Jaime Alvarez Sr. and Salvador Lazos, Sr
