This beautiful angel is 8-month-old Raija Armoni Lynn Straight. Raija passed away on July 14, 2018, in Des Moines, Iowa from injuries she sustained from allegedly being abused by her father.
Des Moines police were called to the hospital on July 13 to investigate a report of an 8-month-old girl with "serious inflicted injuries," according to a press release from Des Moines police.
According to the affidavit, Straight was the primary caregiver of Raija when he brought her unresponsive to the hospital.
"According to Jayden no other persons were around Raija that day, and was unable to provide any explanation as to how Raija received these injuries," the affidavit states.
"The injuries only could have occurred in this short period of time and the only person who was with the child according to medical personnel was Jayden Straight."
Raija's mom was out of the home when the abuse occurred.

Some of Raija's favorite things were bath time and the pool. Almost every day since coming home, Raija and mom would watch SpongeBob together. Raija was in her own world, she amused herself and loved to look at herself in the mirror. Mom and Raija had their own version of tickling, mom would put her nose in her armpits and in her neck rolls and tickle her and say I got your sugars and Raija would laugh. Most of all though,โRaija loved just to be up under her mother.
