Julia Becerra, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Julia was born on November 9, 1923 in Lockhart, Texas to Antonio & Alvina Amparan. She was a native of Lockhart, Texas and became a resident of Corpus Christi, Texas in 1930. In 1944 she married Nasario Becerra and together they celebrated over 53 years of marriage. They both own and operated The Short Stop Convenience Store on Hwy 37. Julia was a devoted wife, loving mother, excellent cook, made friends, a very cheerful person and was always willing to help others.

She is survived by her children: Nasario Jr. (Diana), Daniel (Zaida), Robert all of Corpus Christi, Texas, Carlos (Naomie) of Brownsburg, Indiana, Orlando (Diana Christiana) of Corpus Christi, Texas; grandchildren: Orlando Jr., Steven, Melinda all of Corpus Christi, Texas, Carlos David of Brownsburg, Indiana; and 1 great grandson: Steven Nasario Becerra.

Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2009 at the Seaside Reid Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening at the Reid Chapel.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a departure from the Reid Chapel.

Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
