RITE HELD FOR JOHN B. HENNESSEE ( John Drake Hennessee)

Services for John B. (sic John Drake) Hennessee, Comanche county pioneer, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lawton funeral home chapel. The Rev. Byron C. Smith, pastor of the Lutner Baptist church, officiated.
Mr. Hennessee, 75, died at 3 a.m. Friday at the home of his son, Raymond Hennessee in Saint Jo, Texas, where he had been visiting for two weeks. Born January 29, 1868, he came to Lawton in 1907 from Arlington, Texas. Here he made his home at 1001 "G" Street. A retired farmer and cotton buyer, he was a member of the Masonic and Odd Fellow lodges, and the Methodist church. Survivors are his son, one sister, Mrs. Lester Hayes of Houston, TX and nephews and nieces in Lawton. Music at the service was furnished by Mrs. Joyce Cothran, vocalist, accompanied by Mr. Smith at the organ.

Bearers were: John Cunningham, Sam Hennessee, Archie Rhodes, George Hennessee, Ernest Rhodes and Raymond Cunningham all nephews of Mr. Hennessee. Burial was in Pecan Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Lawton funeral home.

H/O Nancy Elvira "Aunt Wheeler" Hennessee. Nancy the d/o Archibald H. and Mary (Hayes) Hennessee. John Drake Hennessee the s/o Patrick Samuel and Hannah L. (Harrison) Hennessee. John Drake and Nancy were 2nd cousins and were parents of one son, Raymond Elmore Hennessee.
