Memorial services with military honors for James M. Brown of El Reno will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at First Baptist Church with Tyler Kelley officiating. Viewing and visitation will be held until 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 17 at Wilson Funeral Home. Private family interment will be held at a later date. Services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Mr. Brown passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at the Select Specialty Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born Feb. 27, 1936, in El Reno. He was a graduate of Union City High School and had attained his bachelor of science degree from Southwestern State University.

James Monroe Brown married Dolores June Darland on May 4, 1956, in Long Beach, Wash. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He came to El Reno in 1962. He retired from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. James was a member of American Legion, Federal Reformatory Employee Club, NARFE and First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herschel LeRoy Brown and Nita Bonita (Owens) Brown, and sister, Joretta Collins.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores June (Darland) Brown of the home; daughter, Brenda Young and husband, Douglas of Edmond; three sons, Douglas Brown of Rembert, S.C., Darrell Brown and wife, Annette of El Reno and Jeffery Brown of Danville, Ill.; sisters, Mary Ann Sweeney and husband, Brian of Oklahoma City, Arlene Ferik and husband, George of Midwest City and Virginia Ross and husband, Jerry of Yukon; six grandchildren, Christopher Young and wife, Karen, Jonathan Young, Nicholas Brown and wife, Amber, Madison Brown, Steven Brown and Ethen Brown; and many other relatives and many dear friends.
