Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, June 25, 2002 in Doughty-Calhoun-OMeara Chapel at 9:30 a.m. for Elizabeth Ann Birchfield, 69, who passed away in Bakersfield June 21, 2002. Pastors Eldon Clendening and James W. Johnson will officiate and interment will follow at Union Cemetery.
Mrs. Birchfield, a Kern County resident for the past 48 years, was born August 4, 1932 in Caryville, FL to the late J.J. and Pallie Whitehead. She had owned and operated Birchfields Auto Sales for 40 years with her late husband, Robert Eugene Birchfield. Elizabeth had been a treasurer of Longfellow Elementary PTA and a Cub Scout Den Mother.
Mrs. Birchfield is survived by her son, Robert Earl Birchfield and wife, Kathryn D. Birchfield; six grandsons and her brother, Charles A. Whitehead of Panama City, FL.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Hoffmann Hospice, 6501 Schirra Ct., Bakersfield, CA 93313 or Alzheimers Disease Association of Kern County, 5500 Olive Dr., Bakersfield, CA 93308.
Pallbearers will be Jonathan Weinmann, Samuel Birchfield, Jack Garcia, Tom Garcia, Mohammad Bashirtash and John Vasinda.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to John Vasinda and the staff at Carrington of Bakersfield and to Hoffmann Hospice for the kind and compassionate care shown to Mrs. Birchfield during her final illness.
