OBITUARY
Marvin D. Young
JANUARY 1, 1932 – JULY 12, 2018

Marvin D. Young, husband of 57 years to Rose Ann Schultheiss Young passed away at home on July, 12 2018. Marvin was the son of the late Charles and Bertha Young. Visitation will be held 5PM-8 PM Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at Ellliott Sons Funeral Home Columbia Road Chapel. Funeral services will be held 10 AM Wednesday, July 18,2018 at Wesley United Methodist at 825 North Belair Road Evans, Georgia. Pastor Gary Dean and Adam Hilderbrandt will be officiating. Military Honors will follow the services at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Marvin is survived by his loving wife, Rose Ann; children, David (Nancy) , Doug (Rhonda) , Debra (Tom Henderson); grandsons, Joshua and Daniel Henderson and Tyler Young; sisters, Delores ( Charles) Knudsen, Verna Eaves; brothers and sisters in laws, Virginia (Jerry) Kasha, Dean (Marcia) Schultheiss and Kay (John) Schurr.

Marvin retired in Fort Gordon, Georgia in 1978 after 23 years in the army serving stateside in the military district of Washington, DC and overseas in Ethiopia, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan and Berlin. He spent 12 more years as a Department of the Army civilian at Fort Gordon. On full retirement he was director of Columbia County Cares for six years. He was an active member of Men in Mission and Pathways Sunday School Class at Wesley United Methodist Church. His life was dedicated to serving God and his country.
