Services for Jean Dilley Knowles of Palestine, were held on Friday at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. W.S. Blanton and Dr. Jeff Cover officiating. Burial was in New Addition Cemetery (burial was in EAST HILL in the family plot) under direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home. Mrs. Knowles died Wednesday at Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

She was born in Palestine to Clarence V. and Sammie Belle (Campbell) Dilley. She was a lifetime resident of Palestine and a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Knowles attended Randolph Macon College in Virginia and was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin.

She was a founding member of the Meleterion Study Club of Palestine and was active in many civic and philanthropic organizations.

She is survived by her husband, W.M. Knowles; sons, Bill Knowles, and Dr. David Knowles; and four grandsons.

Pallbearers will be Bill Knowles, David Knowles, Drew S. Wommack, Thomas C. Wommack, Mitchell C. Wommack, Tom Broyles, Barrett Broyles, Henry Davenport, and William B. Campbell.
