Karl E. Shook, son of Jessie Belle (Stewart) and Ernest Dietrich Shook, was born and lived most of his early life in Currlesville, PA on his family's dairy farm (Shook's Golden Gurnseys).

He met Suzanne (LaPlante) at medical tech school in Cleveland, Ohio. They were engaged on their third date. The pair married on Sept. 6, 1958. They had four children: Amy Lynn (1959), Karen Kaye (1960), Patrick James (1968), and Dianne Jane (1970).

Karl continued his education and received a BS degree from Bowling Green University in Business with a minor in Mechanical Engineering. He had a varied career in business and owned his own construction company in LaGrange, Indiana from 1977 until 1989, Shook's Siding and Supplies.

He passed away in 1995 in Wauseon, Ohio where he lived with his wife, Sue, and their adult daughter, Karen.
