Funeral services for Cecil Guy Bosley, 97, of Gainesville, are scheduled for Friday, July 20, 2018. The committal service, with military honors, is scheduled for 10:00 AM at Fairview Cemetery. A memorial service, with Rev. Mark Loewen officiating, is scheduled for 11:00 AM at First Christian Church. There will be a reception at First Christian Church following the memorial service. Mr. Bosley will be lying in repose at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home from Monday, July 16 to Thursday, July 19, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM.



Mr. Bosley passed away July 14, 2018 in Wylie.



Guy was born December 27, 1920 in Gainesville to Louis Fry and Julia Ellen (Jones) Bosley. He graduated from Gainesville High School in 1938, where he lettered in football and track. On May 30, 1942, Mr. Bosley married, in Gainesville, Helen Louise Coffman, whom he loved and adored for more than 76 years.



He was inducted into the U.S. Army July 11, 1942 and began active duty later that month on the 28th. In the service, Mr. Bosley was a Military Policeman, achieving the rank of Buck Sergeant, and ended his tour in the Philippines, from where he was honorably discharged on February 2, 1946. Mr. Bosley then began a career with the U.S. Post Office in Gainesville, retiring as Post Master.



A pillar of First Christian Church, Mr. Bosley served his Lord faithfully as a devoted Christian and proud member for more than 56 years. In his younger years he enjoyed golf, bowling, playing the harmonica, and working in his shop. He loved the Rangers, Cowboys, and continued to follow Gainesville Leopard Athletics. Mr. Bosley enjoyed writing and reciting original poetry, sharing them weekly with his friends at Stanford House. Mr. Bosley had great timing with humor, a tremendous wit, and specialized in kindness and love, particularly in regards to his friends, pets, and family.



Survivors include: wife Helen Coffman Bosley of Gainesville; son Bos Bosley and wife Marguerite of Wylie; grandchildren: Tex Bosley, Lisa Jones and husband Keith, and Tom Miller; and great-grandchildren: Easton Jones and Trever Fields.



Mr. Bosley was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers: Richard, Lewis, and Raymond; and sisters: Virginia, Tina, and Sally.



Serving as pallbearers are: Jim Hatcher, John Truitt, Rudy Paclik, Chris Joyce, Scott Davis, and Dale Terry
