Daurice Cody Shine, 75, passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, July 15, 2018, in Ennis, Texas, where she and her husband of 25 years, Fred Shine, made their home since 2010.

Daurice was born in Washington, D.C., on December 10, 1942, to Zollie Doyle and Dorothy Eleanor (Geiser) Cody and raised in Dallas, Texas, where she graduated from Sunset High School in 1960. She later attended George Washington University while living and working in Washington, D.C.

In her early career, Daurice held various positions with the US Department of State, then worked as a paralegal and executive assistant for a number of private firms in Washington and Dallas, retiring from Lehman Brothers in 2008.

In recent years, she was an active member of the Friends of the Ennis Library.

Daurice was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter, Brittany Danielle Burford. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Fred; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Elaine Shine; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Charles Klepper; sister and brother-in-law, Deborah Cody and Paul Allen; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Daurice’s life will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018, at 2:00 pm at the J. E. Keever Mortuary Chapel, Ennis, Texas, with David Bibel officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 pm until the service begins.
