Born Feb. 28, 1934, in Scranton, he was the son of the late Leo and Helen (Dougherty) McCormick. Before his retirement, Joseph was employed by Pope & Talbot Inc. as a machine operator. Joseph was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish in Scranton.
Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughters, Margaret S. Moore and husband, Alan, of Scranton; and Mari A. Bede and husband, Joseph, of Scranton; seven grandchildren, Wayne; Thomas and wife, Gina; Celine, Mitchel, Alan, Maggie and Bryn; his special great-granddaughter, Sophia Magnolia Harris; his brother, William "Billy" McCormick, of Scranton; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Marie Larkin; and his brothers Leo, Raymond, James and Donald McCormick.
A private Mass will be celebrated at the family's convenience. Interment will be private in Cathedral Cemetery.
