EAST WATERBORO- Kay Maxim Kelley, age 86, passed away on July 13, 2018, with her family at her side.
She was born in Auburn on March 6, 1932, daughter of the late Clarence and Thelma (Williamson) Maxim.
She is a 1950 graduate of Monmouth Academy. She went on to graduate in 1954 with a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics from Farmington State Teacher's College.
Kay was passionate about teaching and taught for 32 years in Caribou.
In 1956, she married her husband H. Floyd Kelley.
She was very active in the communities she lived in. She was a member of the Order of Rainbow for Girls, serving as Worthy Adviser and Grand Love, Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron and DDGM, the Grange, Retired Teachers Group, the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church in Caribou and Goodwins Mills United Methodist Church in Lyman, was a Lay Speaker for her churches and wrote and directed many plays for the churches.
Kay is predeceased by her husband H. Floyd.
She is survived by her children- Paul Maxim Kelley and Craig Stuart Kelley and his wife Julie; grandchildren- Jessica and her husband Michael, Meagen, Matthew, Evan and Ryan; great grandson- Caleb; and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday July 16, from 6-8 PM at the Chad E. Poitras Cremation and Funeral Service Chapel, 498 Long Plains Road (Rt.22) in Buxton. During the visiting hours at 7:30 PM, an Order of the Eastern Star funeral service will be held. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday morning at 10 AM at the Goodwins Mills United Methodist Church, 55 Church St., Lyman.
