CHARLESTON YOUNG MAN IN MASSACRE Charleston, Ill. June 23. John Shoemaker, a son of Mr. and Mrs. T. T. Shoemaker of this city, was one of the victims in the Herrin mine massacre, according to r message reaching here late yesterday afternoon. Mr. Shoemaker, the father, departed departed on the first train for Herrin.

John Shoemaker was employed as a mining engineer at the Herrin mine was one of those taken prisoner by the enraged mob of union miners. His dead body was round later at a place where the mob had left it.
Shoemaker was a brother-in-law of one of the head officials of the Herrin mine and had been employed there for some time. He was married and has several children. He had been away from this city for a number of years.

CHARLESTON MAN KILLED IN RIOT John Shoemaker, Mining Engineer, Victim of Herrin Trouble MATTOON. June 21. T. T. Shoemaker of Charleston, went to Herrin Friday, on receipt of information that his son John Shoemaker, had been murdered by a mob of union miners in the massacre there during Wednesday and Thursday. The son, John Shoemaker, had resided in Herrin for some time and was a mining engineer at the Herrin mines. The dead man's body was found Thursday evening where the murderous band had left it. He leaves a wife and several several children besides his parents.
