Ivan earned a Doctorate Degree in Statistics from the University of Wyoming, and served in the Navy as a Lieutenant from 1972 to 1974. On May 3, 2002, he and Linda Higbie Steckel were married in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Ivan worked as a Statistician for the Idaho National Laboratory for 39 years. He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served in many callings. He was a very humble and generous man. Ivan loved learning and reading the scriptures. He and Linda enjoyed working in the yard and garden together. Survivors beside Linda included: sons Matt (Sabrina) Thomas of Idaho Falls, Adam Thomas of Green Bay, WI, and Kirk Joseph (Maggie) Thomas of Lehi, UT; siblings Harold (Gloria) Thomas of Spanish Fork, UT, Naomi (Mike) Kent of Pleasant Grove, UT, Prydwen (Gary) Metzger of Springville, UT, parents-in-law Stephen and Yvonne Steckel of Las Vegas, NV, and brother-in-law, Michael (Doris) Steckel of Las Vegas, NV; and 9 grandchildren. Funeral Services held July 19th at Ammon 5th Ward, 2055 S. Ammon Road. Bishop Paul Lords officiated. Military Rites were performed by the Navy Honor Guard.
