Peacetime Medal of Honor Recipient. He was born in Chile. He entered the U.S. Navy in Massachusetts and served as Captain of the Hold on board the USS Yucca. His citation reads "With Acting Ens. James H. Bunting, during the heavy gale which occurred in Pensacola Bay (Florida) on the night of 19 January 1867, Robinson swam ashore with a line for the purpose of sending off a blowcock, which would facilitate getting upstream and prevent the vessel from stranding, thus voluntarily periling his life to save the vessel and the lives of others."

Robinson's death notice stated he had 35 years of service and had no family nearby. He is buried in Mount Hope Cemetery (Indigent Lot, Grave 94, Range 27), Boston, MA. His grave is unmarked. The VA approved this burial as the Medal of Honor man, a MoH headstone is in progress.
