ARENA/ SUN PRAIRIE - Emma L. Abplanalp, age 88, of Arena passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2007, at the Don and Marilyn HospiceCare Center in Fitchburg. She was born on May 27, 1918, in Salix, Iowa, the daughter of Diedrich and Bertha (Lang) Fink. She was married on June 28, 1939, to Adolph Abplanalp. Emma was a member of the Arena Congregational Church, the Volunteer Missionary Society of the Arena Congregational Church, a past director of Commission on Aging in Iowa County, past member of the Policy Advisory Committee for the Sun Program and a past long time 4-H leader. Survivors include two sons, LeRoy (Jeanette) Abplanalp of Sun Prairie and James "Jim" Abplanalp and friend, Joyce of Watertown; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a step great grandchild; three sisters-in-law, Rachel Abplanalp of Mount Horeb, Helen Abplanalp of Middleton and Oga Blumke of Verona; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Diedrich and Bertha Fink; her husband, Adolph Abplanalp; four brothers, William, Ben, Ernest and George Fink; and two sisters, Augusta Hansen and Elizabeth Schardin. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at the ARENA CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH at 11 a.m. The Rev. Leslie R. Shultz II will officiate with burial in the Arena Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at the RICHARDSON-STAFFORD FUNERAL HOME from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
