Sarah Catherine Hege was the fourth of six known children of Alexander B. Hege (1835-1920) and Nancy Ann Elizabeth Scott (1836-1907), who married 19 Sep 1857 at Davidson County, North Carolina.

Sarah married Benjamin Francis (or Franklin?) Tesh (1859-1917) on 18 Jul 1880 at Davidson County, North Carolina. Sarah and Benjamin were the parents of thirteen known children, namely:

1. Benjamin Franklin Tesh (1880-1967)
2. Julius Edward Tesh (1882-1934)
3. Letitia "Lelia" R. Tesh Hunsucker (1884-1910)
4. Laura Catherine Tesh Koonts (1886-1934)
5. Carrie Louella Tesh hege (1888-1943)

7. Nancy Maie Tesh Cope (1893-1959)
