Stephen Burns 'Steve' Parrish, 77, of Bloomington and formerly of Ocala, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday July 11, 2018 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

Steve was born July 12, 1940 in Bloomington and was the son of the late Ben and Maxine (Burns) Parrish. Steve was a graduate of Bloomington High School Class of 1958 and attended Indiana University. Steve worked for many years for Stone Petroleum Company in Sales, while living in Ocala for 44 years. He loved his church and was very active at Unionville Church of Christ and Central Church of Christ in Ocala.

Steve had a love for sports especially baseball, basketball and golf. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan, enjoyed collecting baseball cards, and he loved Indiana Basketball. His greatest accomplishments came on the golf course where he was the 2 time City of Bloomington Golf Champion, 3 time City of Ocala Club Champion and a member of the Bloomington Golf Hall of Fame. His greatest joy came from his family and especially his grandchildren.

Steve is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Sue (Gardner) Parrish; along with their two children, Stephen Burns 'Burnie' Parrish II (Janet) of Tallahassee, Florida; and Jill Cross (Andy) of Tifton, Georgia. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren; Caroline Parrish, Palmer Parrish, Hunter Cross, and Julianna Cross; and brother, Tim Parrish (Marilyn) of Bloomington.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation for Steve will be Friday July 13, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington and Saturday July 14, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until service time.

Services will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at The Funeral Chapel with Pastors Allen Ketchersid and Michael Douglas officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Bloomington.

A memorial service in Ocala will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to: Unionville Church of Christ, Central Church of Christ or Pentecostal Faith Assembly.
