Bobby “Papaw” Randall Dunn of Pampa, and formerly of Canadian, went to be with our Lord on July 12, 2018, in Pampa.

Friends knew Bobby as Bob but his favorite name was given by his grandchildren as “Papaw”.

Services will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, July 16, 2018 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Albert Maggard of First Pentecostal Holiness Church, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Bob was born on May 1, 1929, in Ringling, Oklahoma. He was the second of four children born to H.D. and Edna E. Dunn. Bob married Clarice Marek on March 21, 1952. She preceded him in death on November 27, 2017.
Bob moved to Lefors, Texas in 1934 and attended Lefors schools until he enlisted into the U.S. Armed Services. He enlisted in the United States Navy in December 1947, and served in the Korean Conflict from 1947-1951. Bob proudly served as an Aviation Ordinance PF-1 aboard the Aircraft Carriers, USS Valley Forge and the USS Philippine Sea. Bob was Honorably Discharged in 1951.

Bob returned to Lefors after completing his high school education in the Navy to graduate from Lefors High School in 1952. Bob was a hard worker throughout his entire life and began his long work history in 1952 at Cabot Shops outside Pampa. Bob worked for the following companies in the Panhandle and Abilene areas: Texas Pipeline Company, Fluid Packed Pump Company, National Supply Company, Bill’s Oilfield Service, JT Richardson Transportation, Turner Transportation and retired in 1999 from the Enron Corporation.

Bob’s two passions besides his family were horseracing and boxing. Bob owned several horses and raced them at tracks throughout the Midwest. Bob was an amateur boxer from a young age and he took first place in the Amarillo Globe News’ Golden Gloves tournament in 1947. He fought out of the Lefors Boxing Club.

In addition to his wife, Bob was preceded in death by his son, David Charles Dunn on June 2, 1999. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers, Henry Benson “Sonny” Dunn and Homer Chestine Dunn and his sister, Geraldine Dunn McPherson.

Bob is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl Brennan of Shamrock and Gayla Bursiaga and husband Sal of Lubbock; by a son-in-law, Mal Brennan; by his seven grandchildren, Shelly Bolton, Darci Crawford, Chelsi Dunn, Debra Fullbright (Jackie), Cory Brennan (Kolby), Jonathon Bursiaga, and Clarissa Bursiaga; by his nine great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Tanner, Witt, Jax, Josh, Emma, Henry, Tessa and Ryan.
