Henry Nelson entered his career path initially as an employee of Hunt-Stewart Painting Company and then worked for Kelly-Moore Paint Company. Thereafter he was a self-employed General Contractor for more than fifty years. He provided client service and work product of the highest quality of those in his profession. Thus, he hired and fired a host of relatives on numerous occasions. His hard work ethic remains alive and well in his children and others he touched. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorn teams. He was the last of the founding members of the annual Clemons Family Reunion which has endured almost forty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Connie Ray Nelson-Page; his "favorite" niece Karla Annette Page; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He leaves to cherish his memories, former-wife Lela Mae Nelson of Austin, TX; son Alonzo (Marie) of Wichita Falls, TX; daughter Sheryl Cole (Kevin) of Austin, TX; aunt Mary A. Hunter of Wichita Falls, TX; grandchildren Tiffany Lary, Ferin Nelson-Scott (Bernard), Alonzo Jurel "AJ" Nelson, Olufemi "Femi" Onabajo, Jr., Nelson Wayne Cole, Marcus Kevin Cole; niece Terri Lynne Page-Triggs (Michael); nephews William J. Page "Brother" (Tameisha) and Derrick "Dee" Page, Sr. (Crystal); five great-grandsons; godson Bobby Tillery; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at Wells Memorial Chapel, 811 Woods St. Wichita Falls, TX 76301. The funeral service will be on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 2:00 at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1420 Borton, Wichita Falls, TX 76306. Flowers may be sent to the Church on Saturday, or to Wells Funeral Home, 909 Harding St., Wichita Falls, TX 76301 prior to or on Saturday.
