With a door always open to anyone in need, Deanna Marlene Andrews of LaPlant would cheer people up with her beautiful smile and amazing sense of humor. Her greatest joy was raising and helping her grandkids, relatives and friends. Her laughter and the loving heart she showed to people will never be forgotten.

Deanna Marlene Four Bear Andrews, 45, entered The Spirit World on Saturday, April 14, 2007 due to injuries sustained in an auto accident near her home.

Deanna was born to Joe Paul Four Bear and Hazel Jones Four Bear on June 18, 1961 in Eagle Butte, where she attended school. In 1982 she married Robert Yellow Fox and made her home in Billings, Mont., and started raising her family Moreau Armstrong Four Bear, Marlo Elizabeth Yellow Fox and Mariah Dawn Yellow Fox.

Returning to South Dakota, she met David Andrews in 1993 and they were married on July 11, 1994 in Rapid City. She helped her husband manage a small business and enjoyed the stock car racing her husband was involved in through his shop.

Deanna was a very energetic person and always put forth her best effort. She worked at a wide variety of jobs before getting immensely involved in her children's schooling and activities. Some of her jobs included catering for firefighters, working as a meat cutter, motel work, babysitting, road construction flagger, secretary, office parts manager, security patrol at the Eagle Butte Fair, and she also had certificates in food handling.

In 1999 she returned to Cheyenne River to make a home in LaPlant to be closer to family and to raise her children away from the influence of city life.

She enjoyed fishing, watching horseshoes, helping her sister at the Boys and Girls Clubs, attending Off the Rockers Club meetings, Pow Wows, school football and basketball games, camping, movies, bingo, cards, board games, cooking and planning special events.

Dee would always voice her opinion no matter what, a trait reflecting her mother Hazel. Now her granddaughter Little Hayzil is very similar in her ways and personality. Deanna's spirit will always be close to those she leaves behind.

Survivors include her husband David of 13 years; three children, Moreau Four Bear, Marlo Elizabeth Yellow Fox and Mariah Dawn Yellow Fox of LaPlant and their children, Hayzil Yellow Fox, Anja Elizabeth Means and Jaxon Clay Smith; three brothers, Keith Marshall, Sturgis, Curtis Marshall of Eagle Butte and Mike Four Bear of Swiftbird; six sisters, Jennifer Malosh, Charlene Four Bear, Odette Garreau, Cheryl Four Bear, Doretta Bowker and Lisa Four Bear, all of Cheyenne River; two great-grandchildren; 45 nieces and nephews and numerous grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Paul and Hazel Four Bear; mother-in-law, Eleanor Elizabeth Andrews; two brothers, Joe Paul Four Bear, Jr. and Eugene Four Bear; a brother-in-law, William Kurt Andrews; a grandson, Tyler Iron Wing, a granddaughter, Anaya Wolfe; and two nephews, Blake Marshall and Joseph Garreau.

Her funeral was Friday, April 20, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Eagle Butte with Mother Marion Rectenwald officiating. Burial was at Ascension Cemetery in Blackfoot under the direction of the Oster funeral Home of Mobridge. There was an all-night wake the night prior to the funeral.

Casketbearers were Curtis "Woody" Marshall, Jr., Arden Marshall, Ryan Bowker, Chris Black Bird, Jr., Andrew St. Pierre, Eddie Gunderson, Jeff Four Bear, Louis Garreau, Jessie Four Bear, Sonny Rising Sun, Frankie Cavanaugh and Chad LeBeau.

Special music was provided by Harvery Eagle Horse and the drum group was Wakinya Maza.
