Virginia Lu “Ginger” Fountain, age 64, of Detour Village, Michigan, died on July 10, 2018 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. She was born on April 4, 1954 in Holly, Michigan to George and Doris (Bentley) Crosby.

Ginger grew up in Holly until her family moved north to Pickford, Michigan, where she attended Pickford High School. She ran track, played softball, and was a cheerleader. She graduated from Pickford High School with the class of 1972. She met Johnny Lee Fountain and they married on September 9, 1972 at Pickford Presbyterian Church. They started their family raising three children. They owned and operated the corner restaurant, in Detour, for a year and after selling that joined eventually became owners of Fountain Trucking. They operated that for 20+years, retiring in January 2017.

Ginger was a member of the Detour Chamber of Commerce, Detour Homemakers Association, and the Union Presbyterian Church. She was also a cheerleading coach for a few years at DeTour High School.

Ginger enjoyed her flower garden, yard work, and home improvement projects. She loved to spend time with grandchildren and supported all their activities. She could often be found on a Sunday afternoon watching NASCAR with her beloved husband who shared the same interest. She loved to dance and enjoyed all types of music.

Ginger is survived by her husband, Johnny L. Fountain Sr. of Detour; children, Johnny Fountain Jr. of Detour, Jason Fountain of Detour, and Hilary (Tom Munro) of Detour; grandchildren, Bryce Fountain, Gunnar Fountain, Grant Fountain, and Macy Nelson; sisters, Patricia (Elwyn) Hillman of Davisburg, Michigan, Gerry (Ron) Sibilsky of Lake, Michigan, Mary (Jim) Akerly of Waterford, Michigan, Sharon Torsky of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Karen (Richard) Maynard of Atlanta, Georgia; brothers, Eugene (Kathy) Crosby Grand Rapids, Michigan and George (Judy) Crosby of Holly, Michigan; brother-in-law, Michael “Peewee” (Christine) Fountain; sisters-in-law, Terry (Edward) LaPoint of Kincheloe, Michigan and Joyce (Norman) Postula of Goetzville, Michigan; and her great friends, Michael and Sharon Hagen and Daniel and Nancy Pawloski.

Ginger was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law, David Fountain and Hugh Akerly.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at R. Galer Funeral Home, 24549 S. M-129, Pickford, Michigan and Saturday, July 14, 2018 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 AM at Union Presbyterian church in Detour. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 A.M.

Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery.
