Theone O. Pederson, 107, Battle Lake, died Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at Battle Lake Good Samaritan Center.

Theone Olive Pederson was born on February 7, 1911 in Hillsboro, North Dakota, the daughter of Hilmar and Cora (Hove) Hanson. She was baptized in Norwegian in Hillsboro and confirmed on May 25, 1925 in the Ringsaker Lutheran Church, rural Pelican Rapids, Minnesota by Reverend Estrem. Theone graduated from the Pelican Rapids High School in 1929, attended St. Cloud University for one year then continued her education at Moorhead State University graduating with a degree in Elementary Education.

Theone and Clifford E. Pederson were married on September 8, 1936 at Theone’s parents’ home in Pelican Rapids. Theone had taught one year in Country School District #156 south of Pelican Rapids. After their marriage they lived in Battle Lake where she taught twenty-three years with the Battle Lake Public School, the first two years teaching a combination 5th and 6th grade class then the remaining years she was a first-grade teacher. Theone retired in 1973, she and Clifford continued to live in Battle Lake and wintered in Florida. Theone was an active member of the First Lutheran Church, where she regularly recorded communicants and also did a lot of the volunteering with the church. She was a member of the Battle Lake Senior Center, she enjoyed the community, visiting with friends and all the fellowship with the church and the senior center.

She is survived by a son, Thomas Clifford (Denise) Pederson of St. Petersburg, FL; son-in-law, Don Fisher of Waynesville, NC; three grandchildren, Rick (Kathy) Fisher, Rodger (Teresa) Fisher and Robert Fisher; four great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Theone is preceded in death by her parents, Hilmar and Cora Hanson; a daughter, Jean Coralyn Fisher; three sisters, Stella Lillie, Hazel Erickson and Dorothy Nelson; and two brothers, Harvey Hanson and Orlin Hanson.

Funeral Service: 10 AM Saturday, August 4, 2018, at First Lutheran Church, Battle Lake, with visitation one hour prior to services at the church.
