Marilyn Jean Rowland, 81, of Zillah, passed away on July 4, 2018 at Astria Medical Center in Yakima after a brief illness.

Jean was born August 22, 1936 in Martin, SD, the only child of JB and Mary Furman.

In the 40’s the family moved to Granger, WA where her father raised cattle.

After graduation from Granger High School, she attended CWU and became a teacher. She first taught in Sunnyside and after her marriage to Jerry K. Rowland they moved to Zillah where Jean taught kindergarten and first grade until her retirement. She and Jerry had a son, Herbert. She loved reading, animals and collecting angels.

She is survived by her cousins, Karen Roley and Linda Zotos of Colorado and a niece Joyce Evans of Wyoming. She is also survived by Herbert’s best friend, Jon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her son.

We want to thank Char for her loving care of Jean this past year. You are an angel.

Recitation of the rosary will be Thursday at 6 PM at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Zillah. Mass of Christian burial will be Friday, July 13th at Resurrection Parish in Zillah at 10:00 AM. A light lunch will be served at the church hall.
