Frozen Body Found at Indianapolis This Morning Identified as Elwood Man.
FUNERAL HERE SATURDAY
(International News Service)
Indianapolis, Dec. 20 - The frozen body of a man identified as John Bricker, 65, of Elwood, was found lying in some bushes in Brookside park this morning. The face was bloody and bruised and one ear was missing, leading the police to believe they had encountered a murder mystery.
A daughter of Bricker was located who identified the body as that of her father who had been last seen at her home last Monday. She said that he was drinking at that time.
Coroner Keever after holding an investigation said that death likely had been caused from alcoholic poisoning and he surmised that the ear might have been chewed off by a hungry dog.
John Bricker, 65, for many years a resident of Elwood, was found dead in an Indianpolis park this morning. Death was due to exposure and Bricker is said to have been drinking when he wandered into the park where the last chapter of a life that held much of unhappiness was written.
The police notified his daughter residing in Indianapolis who in turn communicated with his children living here. Mr. Bricker had been in this city last Friday and left with the intention of going to Indianapolis to remain for a time and nothing more was heard from him until the message came today.
Surviving are a son, Carvil Bricker of Elwood; and two daughters, Mrs. Cora Gardner of Elwood and Mrs. Curtis Flannagan of Indianapolis.
During his many years residence here John Bricker was known as a likeable, friendly man, whose worst enemy was himself.
The body will be brought to Edgar Clark's tomorrow and funeral services conducted at the chapel there, probably Saturday afternoon.
