Oscar was born in Sherman Township, rural Blencoe, Iowa to Wayne Jasper and Dorothy Grace (Armstrong) Young. He graduated from Mondamin High School.
On February 4-1954, Oscar enlisted with the United States Navy and severed on the U.S.S. McKean DDR 784 near Singapore and Malaysia.
He was honorably discharged on November 27-1957.
After his military service, he returned to live in Little Sioux and worked as a farm laborer in the area until his retirement.
Oscar marred Helen Stewart on August 6-1966 at the Glen Stewart Home in Page, NE. They made their home in Little Sioux until they moved to Onawa in 2008.
In his younger years, his favorite hobbies were playing pool and working on cars. He also enjoyed watching sports and ballgames on TV. He was a past member of the Little Sioux Fire Department and the Fraternal Order of Eagles and member of the Little Sioux American Legion Post 410 for over 40 years. He will be remembered as the BINGO Caller for the Little Sioux Home Coming for many years.
