Loyd F. Powell, 81, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, in a local hospital.

He was a member of and served as a Deacon at Center Point Baptist Church. He enjoyed singing and loved his children, grandchildren and family very much. He was a retired veteran of the United States Air Force where he received the Air Force Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Franklin Powell and Bonnie O’Neal Powell; siblings, Jackie Gibbs, Vivian Stiles and Charles Powell.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Mae Stiles Powell of Cleveland; children, Tammy Franklin (Thomas) of Charleston, Bethany Maldonado (Gilbert) of San Angelo, TX, Erica Shamblin (Joe) of Cleveland, and Reverend Johnathan Powell (Sarah) of Charleston; seven grandchildren, Fiona Maldonado, Gilbert Maldonado Jr., Felecia Maldonado, Hunter Shamblin, Trapper Shamblin, Xander Powell and Katie Powell; four great-grandchildren, Nolan Luna, Abbygail Luna, Melody Edwards and Nova-Lee Maldonado; siblings, Betty Nicholson, Patricia Panter, Michael Powell and David Powell and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend Johnathan Powell officiating. Interment will follow in the Center Point Baptist Church Cemetery with Gilbert Maldonado Jr., Hunter Shamblin, Trapper Shamblin, Isiah Alston, Matt Stiles and Andy Stiles serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Xander Powell, Nolan Luna, Chuck Stiles and Rick Nicholson.
