She was the daughter of Ernest J. and Etta Wright Davis. Ernest Davis was a Methodist preacher and the family moved frequently.
Marilyn attended various schools in east and south Texas, graduating from Pearland High School, in 1947. In 1949 she married Paul Georgas. In 1957 they moved to Silsbee. They built their home and reared their sons Carey and Rob there. They enjoyed life together there for fifty-seven years.
Marilyn earned her B. A. degree from Sam Houston State University, her Masters degree from Lamar University, and her Ph. D. in English from the University of Texas in Austin.
Survivors include her husband Paul, son Carey and his wife Linda, and son Rob, and his wife Michele, grandchildren Jana Georgas, William Georgas and his wife Amy and Phillip Georgas, Caleb and Carleigh Kotrla and Lisa Boever and Wendy Watts, five great grandchildren, a sister, Leona Nini and a sister-in-law, Doris Davis, a number of nephews and nieces and a host of loving friends.
