Robert Grant “Papa” Steitler, age 83, of Texarkana, Arkansas, died Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 29, 1934 in Oklahoma.
He was the retired owner of Robert Steitler’s Dirt and Dozier Work and a member of Highland Park Baptist Church. Robert was a veteran of the United States Army, C Company, 24th Engineer Battalion 4th Armored Division.
He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years, Melba Steitler. Papa was a loving and kind man who would give you the shirt off his back. He was a humble man who loved his family very much, always thinking of others before thinking of himself.
He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Delma and Bubba Green of Texarkana, Arkansas, Sandy Steitler of Texarkana, Texas, one sister, Jane Lumley of New Mexico, four grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and a host of friends and other relatives.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 A. M. Friday at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas with Rev. Kevin Myers and Rev. Donnie Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
