NewsZappDE obituary, 2 November 2007: Ross J. Carter Sr., 85 - CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Ross J. Carter Sr., of Chestertown, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, in Chester River Hospital Center, Chestertown. He was 85. He was born in Baltimore on May 7, 1922, son of the late Charles and Bessie (Smith) Carter. He married Ida Mary Collacchi and she preceded him in death in August 2000. Mr. Carter served in the U.S. Army for seven and a half years, serving in Northern France, Central Europe and Rhineland Campaign in the 29th Infantry Division during World War II. He was honorably discharged Nov. 7, 1945. Mr. Carter returned to Baltimore and worked as a meat cutter with Food Fair for 50 years. He retired and moved to Ocean City, where he continued to work during the summer months doing various jobs. He was a member of the Highlandtown Veterans of Foreign Wars, and active with Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church and Crumpton Senior Citizens. Mr. Carter enjoyed watching television and movies and was a devoted Ravens fan. He was dedicated to his family and his work. Mr. Carter is survived by a son, Ross J. Carter and his wife Connie of Chestertown; a sister, Josephine Poffel of Towson; two grandchildren, Kristina Haley and her husband Sky of Baltimore, and Todd Carter and his wife Denyce of Greensboro; and great-granddaughters Kameryn Alexis and Bryanna Jade Carter. Funeral services will be noon Saturday in Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, where relatives and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be 2:30 p.m. in Holly Hill Memorial Gardens. Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to Centreville Community Church, Spaniards Neck Road, Centreville, MD 21617.

There was no grave marker for Ross J. Carter when I visited the site on 11 July 2018. There was a grave marker for his wife, Ida Mary Carter.
