Wendy West was called home to live with her Heavenly Father on July 4, 2018. She was a baptized Catholic who cherished and lived her faith which she shared with others. She won several State music awards in high school playing the flute. She graduated from NMSU with university honors. She was raised and helped family on the ranch. She loved horses. She rode in Gymkhana and Jr. rodeos. She was even crowned Rodeo Queen once. After her daughter Maggie was born, she loved to take her on Disney vacations almost every year. She home schooled her first five grades. She did everything for Maggie. She was the light of Wendy's life. She is survived by her daughter, Maggie Renee (affectionately called "Scooter" by her mother); her parents, Bert and D'Aun West of the family home; her aunt, Joy Magby (Edgar) of Carlsbad. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Clint and Dee Johnson of Silver City; W.H. (Bud) and Sybal West from Carlsbad; aunts, Pat (Jack) Tucker of Carlsbad; and Shirley Swift of Carlsbad. A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, July 7 at 10am at Santa Clara Catholic Church with Father Robert Becerra officiating. Concluding service and interment will follow at Memory Lane cemetery.
