Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 13, at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, with visitation from 9:00 am until service time at the church. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials in David’s honor may be given to Pilgrim Lutheran Church or Macon Resources, Inc. Brintlinger & Earl Funeral Home, Decatur, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
David was born on March 10, 1952, in Burkesville, Kentucky to James and Eldean Thrasher. He graduated from Moweaqua High School in 1970. David retired in April 2015 after 42 years in the baking industry. He retired from Hostess Brands, where he was a Project Engineer, but spent the majority of his career as the Chief Engineer of the Decatur Butternut Bakery. David loved anything with a motor and especially enjoyed building high performance engines. He always rode a motorcycle and enjoyed drag racing. In recent years, he loved spending his summers camping and fishing from his kayak.
David married Jana Bart on July 3, 2000. He is survived by his wife, Jana of Decatur; children, Shane (Stacey) Thrasher of Avon, IN; Julie (Travis) Trimble of Macon, IL; mother, Eldean Thrasher of Moweaqua, IL; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five brothers and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his father.
